A Little Bit About Satan

Alma 12:3-4

He uses lying and "craftiness"...very "subtle plans" to deceive people...

Alma 12:5-6:

He uses "snares" to "catch" the people, "that he might bring you into subjection unto him, that he might encircle you about with his chains, that he might chain you down to everlasting destruction, according to the power of his captivity"

In my footnotes I had written "Discouragement is the tool of the Devil"

I cross referenced Moses 4:

Satan's Goals: Verses 3-4
-sought to destroy the agency of man
-wanted all the power
-deceive and blind men
-lead them captive at his will

Alma 1

The beginning of this chapter talks about Nehor... He was "noted for his much strength (used his strength to get attention, along with "costly apparel") He was teaching false doctrine and making a living off of it. He declared "unto the people that every priest and teacher ought to become popular..." In the footnote under popular it references another scripture in 1 Ne. 22:23:

"For the time speedily shall come that all churches which are built up to get gain, and all those who are built up to become popular in the eyes of the world, and those who seek the lusts of the flesh and the things of the world, and to do all manner of iniquity...are they who need to fear, and tremble, and quake; they are those who must be brought low in the dust; they are those who must be consumed as stubble; and this is according to the words of the prophet."

Sounds like we are living that right now...
